Frequently asked questions

How do I format JSON?

Paste the JSON into the left box or open a .json file. It is checked and formatted instantly. A green “Valid JSON” message means it is fine; otherwise you see the line and column of the error.

What are the most common JSON errors?

A trailing comma after the last item, single quotes instead of double quotes, keys without quotes, comments, and unescaped line breaks inside strings. JSON allows none of these.

What does Minify do?

It removes all spaces and line breaks, so the JSON is as small as possible — useful for configs, APIs and storage.

What does Sort keys do?

It orders the keys of every object alphabetically, which makes two JSON files much easier to compare.

Is my JSON sent to a server?

No. FileCrafty checks and formats JSON inside your browser, so tokens, keys and personal data stay on your device.
